Your New Wine BFF Has Arrived!

Tiburon’s historic Main Street is made for shopping, savoring, and sipping. Now there’s one more reason to slow your stroll— Squalo Vino, a modern wine bar and tasting lounge opened in early October. It’s one of several new venues jazzing up Tiburon’s already buzzing culinary scene, and is the realization of the Tiburon Tasting Trio, a group of three longtime restaurant and real estate partners SG Ellison, John Hoffman and Peter Wholfeiler who share a passion for wine, and have business ties to downtown Tiburon.

Squalo Vino’s interior design is the work of San Francisco’s award-winning Quezada Architecture, who also waved their magic wand over Tiburon’s chic The Caviar Co. just down the street. Step inside Squalo Vino to find a modern yet cozy space that feels instantly like your favorite neighborhood watering hole, thanks to belly-up bar seating, plush velvet club chairs, and cozy window banquets. Providing warm welcomes are Squalo Vino’s knowledgeable staff, including General Manager and wine industry veteran Kelly Barrett who championed the wine selection that’s unlike any other in town. With more than 80 domestic and imported wines and champagnes hailing from small artisan and insider-find producers, Squalo Vino’s menu is a passport to palate-pleasing adventures, guaranteed to quench the curiosity of adept oenophiles and newbies alike. Purchase wines by the bottle, choose from a rotation of by-the-glass options, or opt for one of the three flights that help tune you in to your favorite flavors.

There are even a few California craft beers on the menu, which pair well with the assorted cheese board, caviar, and salty snacks.

“Building our wine list was both rigorous and thoroughly enjoyable,” said Barrett in a press release. “We wanted to offer wines that would excite a range of palates and wine knowledge, with particular focus on provenance and rarity. There are phenomenal wines from our own backyard in Napa and Sonoma as well as a large contingent of Bordeaux and other imports.”

With the holidays just around the corner, gift cards are available online (hello stocking stuffer!), as are two wine club memberships that deliver curated wine selections, bottle discounts, and some complimentary in-house tastings.

Squalo Vino can be booked for private tastings or parties. Look for their ticketed Vintner Series to launch November 10.
